Fortin Hats – Hat Care, Repair and Shipping Terms and Conditions
Fortin Hats is committed to providing the highest quality craftsmanship in all our hat care, refurbishment, and repair services. By engaging our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which are designed to clarify our processes and protect both parties under applicable Australian law.

1. General Terms of Service
1.1. These Terms and Conditions apply to all care, refurbishment, cleaning, and repair services provided by Fortin Hats Australia (“Fortin Hats”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
1.2. By submitting an item for service, you (“the customer”) acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
2. Scope of Services
2.1. Fortin Hats provides services including but not limited to cleaning, steaming, blocking, reshaping, refurbishment, replacement of components, and other hat-related work.
2.2. We will use our professional judgement and reasonable efforts to ensure services are carried out to a high standard suitable to the nature and condition of each item.
3. Condition of Items
3.1. You acknowledge that hats submitted for repair or cleaning may be subject to inherent risks due to age, wear, and the condition of materials, including but not limited to felts (fur, wool, or blends), leather, suedes, linings, and trims.
3.2. We are not responsible for:

Weaknesses or latent defects not reasonably apparent before service,

Perished or degraded components that may fail during service,

Minor shrinkage or shape changes resulting from the cleaning or drying process.
3.3. We do not guarantee full removal of stains, odours, or restoration of colour and shape to a brand-new condition.
4. Risk and Liability
4.1. All services are undertaken at the customer’s risk.
4.2. Fortin Hats accepts no liability for:

Damage due to normal wear and tear,

Shrinkage or change in fit post-cleaning,

Damage resulting from perished or fragile materials,

Any loss or failure that arises from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
4.3. In the event that a component fails or deteriorates during the process, we reserve the right to:

Provide a quotation for replacement of the component, or

Halt the repair and return the item without further liability.
5. Customer Responsibilities
5.1. It is the customer's responsibility to:

Ensure the item is suitable for repair or refurbishment,

Understand and accept the risks outlined in these Terms,

Communicate any specific concerns, sentimental value, or limitations before service begins. ​

6.1. These Terms and Conditions do not exclude or limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund for major failures and for other reasonable remedies where the goods or services are not supplied as agreed.

Shipping Terms & Conditions (Within Australia)
1. Dispatch & Delivery Times

1.1. Fortin Hats will process and dispatch repaired or refurbished hats within 2–4 business days of completing the repair, unless otherwise specified at the time of booking. 1.2. Estimated shipping times after dispatch are typically 3–7 business days for standard shipping and 1–3 business days for express shipping. Delivery times may vary due to carrier delays, public holidays, or other factors outside our control. ​
2. Shipping of Hats to Us
2.1. Customers are responsible for securely packaging and shipping their hats to Fortin Hats. 2.2. Hats must be sent in a sturdy box that is large enough to fully accommodate the brim without distorting the shape of the hat. 2.3. We recommend using a tracked service with sufficient insurance to cover the hat’s value. 2.4. Fortin Hats accepts no liability for items damaged, lost, or delayed in transit to our workshop.
3. Return Shipping
3.1. Fortin Hats will package all hats carefully for return shipping to the address provided. 3.2. Customers must ensure the shipping address is correct at the time of booking. 3.3. Redelivery fees due to incorrect address details or failed delivery attempts will be charged to the customer.
4. Shipping Fees
4.1. Shipping rates will be quoted during the booking process and are calculated based on the weight, size, and destination of the hat. 4.2. Any additional fees for expedited or insured shipping must be agreed upon prior to dispatch.
5. Risk & Ownership
5.1. Risk passes to the customer once the hat is handed over to the carrier. 5.2. Fortin Hats is not liable for damage, theft, or loss of hats once they have been dispatched. ​
6. Lost or Damaged Parcels
6.1. In the unlikely event that your hat is lost or damaged during return shipping, please contact us immediately at info@fortinhats.com with your order number and supporting documentation. 6.2. Fortin Hats will liaise with the carrier to lodge a claim. Any reimbursement or replacement will depend on the outcome of that claim and applicable insurance policies.
